Why Do I Vape Real Tobacco Flavors?
Could it be because artificial flavors just don't satisfy?
Artificial flavors have a single spectrum flavor profile compared to organic plant extractions. They usually cannot be used alone without getting the impression that something is missing. That is why artificially flavored e-liquids are usually mixed with other flavors.
The organic plant extracts, on the other hand, are complex and have a more satisfying full flavor profile when we vape them. The nuances of the organic plant come through. Flavor as nature made it.
People like the taste of natural tobacco, otherwise we wouldn't have been enjoying it for hundreds of years.
Factoid: Cigarettes do not taste like tobacco. The cigarette industry has modified the composition over the years (40+) to the extent that there is virtually no link between the taste of tobacco and the taste of a cigarette.
Factoid: Vaping tobacco and smoking tobacco are two very different experiences. Vaping extracted tobacco flavors gives the true taste of the tobacco variety. Virginia is sweet and mild, Burley is caramel , honey, treacle, Turkish is resinous, aromatic, mellow and a little exotic. Smoking these same tobaccos gives nuances of the tobacco flavor but you have to get through the combustion gases first. In other words, the flavors are there but they are partially hidden behind the smoke.
Many of us that have smoked for years really do like the tobacco experience, we just don't want to smoke it anymore. We aren't idiots, we know that smoking is not the healthiest thing we could be doing. Many of us have tried to quit and failed for any of the usual reasons. In my case, I found that I could and did quit smoking without really having to give anything up. I want (or need) nicotine, and I have a physical habit that includes puffing on a stick and enjoying the sensation and/or taste. Vaping tobacco extracted flavors solved my problem. Candy and fruit flavors did not work for me. I also have some resistance to the artificial chemical products used as flavorings - (I feel nauseated).
